Stamp Collection 2012

The Stamp Collection series is a playful interaction with memory and historical object. Stamps record significant points in history, commemorating individuals and events. The original collection belongs to my mother, which she kept as a child; gathered from postal communication between family in Australia and those remaining overseas. Using my own image as a substitute creates an alternate history, perhaps entering and intercepting with the written communication from relatives.
Originally presented behind sheets of perspex, this aided to conjure notions of a precious object, akin to the plastic sleeves in which collected stamps are stored.
